Real Estate Agent resume example & template

A mid-career residential agent resume from central Ohio. It reports production the way brokers and team leads measure it: closed sides, sales volume, GCI and where the business came from.

  • Production numbers (18 sides, $5.9M volume, $151K GCI) sized for a mid-career agent in a $325K median market.
  • Shows both sides of the business: listings with a list-to-sale ratio and buyers with down payment assistance.
  • License, MLS membership and the actual CRM and transaction tools sit where a broker looks for them.

How to write a real estate agent resume

What hiring teams in this field actually screen for, and the terms that get matched.

What brokers and team leads screen for

A broker reading an agent resume wants production and where it comes from. Lead with closed sides per year, sales volume and gross commission income, and give the year so the reader can see the trend. Say whether the business is mostly buyers or listings, because teams hire for one or the other. The source of business matters almost as much as the total: a pipeline built on past clients and referrals travels with you, while leads that came from a team or a paid portal may not. Keep the numbers honest for your market; a broker knows the local median price and will check your average against it.

License, MLS and tools that get matched

Name your license exactly as the state issues it (Ohio calls it a real estate salesperson license) and the year you earned it. List the MLS you belong to and your REALTOR association, since postings often require active membership. Brokerage and team postings ask for a CRM such as Follow Up Boss, a transaction management system such as dotloop or SkySlope, and showing and e-signature tools. Designations like ABR, SRS or SRES help when they match the role. Programs you work with, such as state housing finance agency assistance, FHA or VA buyers, and new construction, are real screening terms.

Common mistakes on real estate agent resumes

The most common miss is a resume full of duties every agent performs: showed homes, wrote offers, hosted open houses. Replace them with counts and outcomes. Other mistakes brokers mention: quoting team volume as personal volume, reporting sales volume without the number of sides, and leaving out the year. Soft claims about being a people person carry no weight. A list-to-sale ratio, a referral share or a clean compliance record says more in one line.

Real Estate Agent resume FAQ

Quick answers before you start writing.

What should a real estate agent resume include?

A strong real estate agent resume opens with a concise professional summary, then work experience written as quantified, results-first bullets, followed by education, a skills section, and any certifications. The example above shows each section in order.

What skills should a real estate agent resume highlight?

Lead with the skills the job posting asks for. For a real estate agent, recruiters and ATS filters commonly look for Buyer representation, Listing presentations, Pricing and CMAs, Contract negotiation, Open houses, and Columbus REALTORS MLS. Group them so they are easy to scan.

Is this real estate agent resume template ATS-friendly?

Yes. It uses a single-column structure, standard section headings, real text (no text trapped in images), and no tables or graphics that confuse applicant-tracking systems, so it parses cleanly while still looking polished.

How long should a real estate agent resume be?

One page is ideal for most real estate agents. Use two pages only if you have ten or more years of directly relevant experience, then tune the text size and margins so it stays clean.
