What sales leaders screen for

A sales resume is read as a track record, so lead with quota and attainment. Give the number, the percentage and the period, then your ranking if it flatters you. Sales leaders also need context to judge that number: average deal size, sales-cycle length, segment (SMB, mid-market, enterprise) and whether pipeline was inbound or self-sourced. The same 1.2M quota means very different things across those.

Terms and methodology that get matched

Name the CRM and the surrounding stack: Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft, Gong, ZoomInfo, Clari. Add methodology, because many postings filter on it directly: MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, Challenger, SPIN, Sandler. Motion vocabulary matters too, so distinguish new-logo acquisition from expansion and renewals, and mention multi-threading or C-level negotiation where it applies.

Common mistakes on sales resumes

Quoting a quota without attainment, or attainment without the quota, is both the most common mistake and the most damaging, because it reads as hiding something. Avoid presenting team results as your own; if you carried part of a team number, say so. Including a down year is fine when the trend is otherwise strong, since sales leaders respect candor and will ask either way.
